This list includes those guidelines and standards available at the time of publication. Though every effort has been made to include all available guidelines, this list is not all inclusive and will be updated as new guidelines become available. AORN: The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) is the national association committed to improving patient safety in the surgical setting. The AORN develops standards and guidelines used in a wide variety of surgical settings. APIC: The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology mission is to improve health and patient safety by reducing risks of infection and other adverse outcomes. APIC participates in the development of standards and guidelines for reprocessing flexible endoscopes. Updated 8/2004. ASGE: The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy is a professional organization dedicated to advancing patient care and digestive health by promoting excellence in endoscopy. The ASGE publishes guidelines for infection control in GI Endoscopy. Last updated December 1998. CDC OSHA: The Occupational Safety and Health Administration establishes standards for workplace safety, including recommendations and standards for Personal Protective equipment and bloodborne pathogens/Standard Precautions.
